...I don't know too much about his past in the other German state, the claims they often come up with.
But I guess, at least he knows some more history than some other members of parliament: Gregor Gysi
At least he knows it's not too well to randomly put guns into the Middle East like they don't already have some. And he knows it's not too well if you find high German politicians advising a government in the Ukraine where clearly a nationalistic course and detestation towards Russia can be found. The last time they did that a lot of people died in that area and there was a crusade going towards Stalingrad.
Let me put it this way: I am not entirely sure that Ukraine's in the wrong to oppose Vladimir Putin's plans and ambitions at the moment. Doesn't mean that the governments in both Kyiv and Moskva shouldn't be watched closely...
And I put that short: I think until this day he remained the only politician they let it speak out loud "Do you fucking realize who you're talking to? Don't you tell me that you don't take notice what kind of folks is also hanging around there on the Maidan or what these politcians you shake hands with sometimes say in their remaining free time when there's none of our cameras around!" The rest the internet seems to know better than the official press. Proof of incapacity.
And I tend to think that a million-plus Canadians, many of whom still have relatives back in their particular "old country", are paying attention in their own fashion to what's going on.
Also, I worry that my own PM is representing other people who may be circling the Ukraine like sharks no less than Putin's crowd has been doing.
Anyone else here want to weigh in on this side discussion?
...Didn't plan to go down into a discussion like this, but as you put it on the table, I have a question: Why did Ukrainians immigrate specifically to Canada after WWII? I've already heard things about that, also people moved there who committed war crimes and ideological work in WWII in the Ukraine (for the fascistic side). I've always asked myself about it, why exactly did people move out to there? Were there some ties or links - or was it just the same as some Nazis have left off to South America "no matter how far, just getting away so they cannot catch me"? I never found an answer to this, so that's why I'm asking. In Central Europe this circumstance is totally unknown in the mainstream.
Hm, okay, considered that there was the fear that Stalin's going to run over all of Europe, it makes sense. I was just only asking because it wouldn't occur to me just to go exactly to Canada and nowhere else, so I suspected there must be some special ties why people went there. (Like there already was a vivid Ukrainian community existing there, you never know.) Well, but maybe it was the general panic that circulated around that drove good and bad (meaning: innocent and guilty) over the big pond.
