Decided to copy a few of my thoughts posted originally to trekbbs.com...
1. Am I being wrong-headed here, or does it seem like Coulson and Skye might end up pushed by their respective mysteries into a closer alliance than either would be currently comfortable with?
2. Here's a thing I hope to see, inspired by something Ward said to Skye in the second or third episode. It was something to the effect of every agent having a defining moment. Something that crystalized why they wanted to get into this line of work in a general sense. And we've now seen why Ward wants to protect people. I expect we'll see something of similar nature for each of the other members of the "Coulson Squad" in due time.
The next logical thing for each cast member in turn is this: why SHIELD specifically?
Each of these five agents could excel in their own way in some other organization in their own countries of origin. So why SHIELD instead of any of the other options available to them?
3. Next week's instalment, "Repairs", looks to be set in a place called Batesville in Utah. So the publicity stills and commercial footage released thus far seem to suggest.
Did some Wikipedia digging and while there was a settlement of that name in Utah once upon a time - roughly the 19th Century - it doesn't seem to be there now. The name does pop up in company names hailing from Salt Lake City, though.
4. Is there a fourth item?
