???: Livejournal to do away with subject line in comments

I'm seeing this making the rounds on some of my friendlist's LJs tonight after getting home from the afternoon and evening's travels, chores and fun. So I'm wondering what the Devil's going on here?

I make use of the subject line header from time to time when commenting on other people's LJ entries, and appreciate being able to extend an in-kind courtesy to other LJ users. If this report about the feature being discontinued is true, then I'd very appreciate seeing it undiscontinued.
