Books: Railway Maps of the World
May. 29th, 2011 10:31 pmOne other thing: I picked up the above title, written by one Mark Ovenden the other week. Based on his handling of what's called Transit Maps of the World in the anglophone portions of North America and Paris Underground over the last few years, it seemed like a good choice. And I've been a sucker for a well-designed map - or book about such maps - since I was a kid.
Worth the money. It's thorough, it showed me stuff I'd never seen before, and gave me a sense of rail-related graphic design history that I may end up playing with for years.
Mostly, it's just fun.
