Putting on both my "Honorverse fan" and "space science" hats, I've been having fun over at [livejournal.com profile] hms_fearless trying to nail down Manticore's home star tonight. Even with Celestia helping me out, it could take a while!

Some recommended comics reading: Doom Patrol # 13, for the inside scoop on how Rita "the original Elasti-Girl" Farr's been coping since her revival, and what exactly she's got to cope with these days.

For that matter, Secret Warriors # 18 covers the latest of the misadventures of those currently gathered under Nick Fury's banner. I do think that there's at least one tall tale that I really cannot believe about the original Captain America and the Howlers tucked away in there, and it all hangs on a question of language skills. [livejournal.com profile] seanchaidhmight want to have a look at the book in question and get back to me on this. Or maybe [livejournal.com profile] fajrdrako?

Closing out the comics reviews with Spitfire # 1. [livejournal.com profile] paulcornell2 did a good job writing this one, featuring the growth of Lady Falsworth's relationship with Blade. Yes, that Blade.

I'd really like to see MI-13 get their series back again. This one-shot just underscored that point.

Back to you...

Haven't been keeping up with Secret Warriors. Why is Nick Fury still 'secret' now that Cap's back and running things?

Possibly spoiler territory here...

...but it may be that Nick sees Cap in the USA-equivalent of his old job and figures that things back home are in good enough hands. Besides, juggling the multiple threats of Hydra and Leviathan right now has been keeping Nick busy enough. Once the "Last Ride of the Howling Commandos" arc is done, then we'll see where things go.

If I'm reading between the lines of the "after-action report" scenes at the UN Security Council correctly, though...then if Nick's survived this? We may see a partial reset to status quo ante-Secret War.

One wonders if Nick might turn down the job. He's had two versions of SHIELD go bad on him, after all....

Hmmm. If you're right, and with Steve and Tony locked into their own work right now...who would that leave?

Was a time when Val di Fontaine would've made a good choice, but previous events in Secret Warriors have poisoned that option...
