They seem to have always been here, at least as far back as Preston Manning's father's day. That aside, I take your meaning. Theocrats on the make, no matter their proclaimed religious stripe, are Not Welcome. Whether it's Al Qa'eda, this bunch or anyone else of similar bent.

It's not the religious bent that gets them into trouble, it's the fanaticism. Otherwise, Tommy Douglas would've gotten a lot farther than he did. And he would've been able to keep on being a minister as well as PM.

I don't care for religious fanatics either. I am reminded of C.S. Lewis' reaction to fanatics of this kind: "If someone adds to his [/her] own beliefs 'Thus saith the Lord' then he lies, and he [/she] lies dangerously."
