Ontario's offering green license plates for anyone living here with a green car. The design looks not too bad. I assume they're sticking with Driver Gothic for the registry alpha-numerics on the actual plates?

John Scalzi pointed out a few things about a certain inevitability that maybe we should finally admit to having achieved as fans and pros and move on to something else from there. What do you think?

I agree with Scalzi, as I usually do, with the proviso that any SF fan who remembers what it was like before SF movies made the genre more popular gets a pass, because things really were pretty grim back then, before Star Wars (what the kids call Episode IV: A New Hope) really opened the door, and even then it took a few more years before mainstream media would admit that it wasn't just a fluke. Even Gene Roddenberry, a pretty amiable guy (at least in public), used to bitch, in his genteel way, about how the media used to pick out the very geekiest geeks at any given Star Trek con and run their pictures as representative of the whole. It was really something when TNG took off and all these Trekkies started coming out of the closet, as it were.

Yeah. When Goldberg revealed herself as a fan by taking the Guinan gig for one example, that got a bit of attention.

And the camera crews still home in on what I call "camera bait" at the conventions, no matter which side of the border the convention's located on.

Be interesting to see if President Obama tries on a Nick Fury look next Hallowe'en, won't it?
