Nanaimo - Lois Lane

Yep. That name. In a subsection of Nanaimo's downtown known as the China Steps. Not quite sure how it happened, although I'm sure it did so before Siegel and Shuster happened upon National Periodical Publications.

As for the bookstore/coffeehouse off to the side, Clifford's Wake...I hope it's still in business. I'd like to drop in again some day.

Interesting. I went by this corner of Nanaimo back in the 90s, and (IIRC) it looks pretty much the same as it does now.

Sadly, I've not been back since my parents died and their house was sold in 1998. I *do* want to go back someday, but I probably have to get a New Job first. :-(

I'm sure you know this, but there's an episode of Smallville set in a bowling alley. It was, of course, filmed near Vancouver. They had to hide the name of the bowling alley, which in reality is names "Lois Lanes".

I love it when comic book names crop up in real life. I wonder if there are any in Ottawa. Can we pretend that the Ottawa Citizen building on Baxter Road is called the Baxter Building?

I read your text before I looked at your picture and I hoped for a moment that a Siegal Road was intersecting a Shuster Drive.
