Some stuff of varying degrees of interest across various fields:

David Reevely makes a case for not privatising public transit in Ottawa. I find myself unwilling to disagree, even in my present state of inconvenience due to the transit strike.

On the art of data presentation, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] coudal: A link to the growth of Wal-Mart across the United States from the 1960's to 2007.

According to the boss of LJ's former parent company, I'm already in competition with Facebook. And so are all of you. Interesting thought, that.

I'm still working on expanding my Flickr and Picasa galleries(links in the sidebars).

Speaking of Flickr, today, I just got greeted in "LOLSpeak". "LOLSpeak" is a language now? Isn't it still just a mutant dialect of English?

LOLspeak is definitely a mutant dialect of English. It's English as if it was spoken by a cat, so you do have to apply a certain amount of imagination to it. It adds to the cuteness!

It's an amusing dialect in small doses, no arguments there. Also, I keep expecting certain under-age-10 relatives of mine to break into LOLSpeak from time to time.

Except that doesn't explain Garfield and Catbert.

Well, obviously, they've assimilated into human culture and disdain their feline roots.

Food for thought, that theory.

Did you see the news that now Walmart has siphoned off as much as possible off America's economy, it's now migrating to Russia? Now that we're on life support it's planning on opening stores in the one place that still seems to be doing well:

Walmart is like a cancer, it spreads by latching on to previously-healthy hosts and then sucks it dry.

Russia doing well? I'd be inclined to say that they're in enough troubles as it is, and they don't need this one on top of everything else!
