Many institutions and people of wealth and means are more trustworthy than others. Capitalism needs the regulation that democracy can provide to truly function at its best, no matter what some of the practitioners of the former may continue to want for the future of the latter, or of the rest of us humans. I'm not sure how much of what I wrote above is of a piece with the opinion piece in the link, but I hope you'll tell me.
