We may well have a deal between the Amalgamated Transit Union and OC Transpo. Which means no bus strike today for sure...and hopefully not for at least another couple of years, pending the ratification vote. Excuse me while I utter a sigh of relief, peoples.

Election Promises: Mistakes By People Who Know Better

I just had one of those moments where, on The West Wing, Josh Lyman or Leo McGarry or Toby Ziegler(pick your favourite) would be now screaming "You IDIOT! You KNOW better than to make that kind of promise!" or words to that effect. No doubt Aaron Sorkin, or any of the staff writers currently filling his shoes as best they can -- and they do have their good moments, more and more often of late -- could do a better job of writing such a scene.

Anyway, the moment was inflicted by representatives of the New Democratic Party. Usually, they're smarter than this, or so I'd been accustomed to believing. The details are in this CBC article.

I just bet that everyone looking in on this entry and the article can think of a moment that would fit the criteria I'm implying re: their own political party of choice or one they respected regardless of other considerations. Yes?
