I haven't watched Picard yet but I rather liked the first contact storyline in Disco.

As a linguist I loved the conceit behind how the Discovery team communicates with Species 10-C. I also like how Booker finally came to his senses. Re Picard, I think more preamble was needed (perhaps one more episode) before moving these characters we barely remember (more or less) into other realities where they're supposed to be different, but every actor did the best they could with what they were given.

I saw Picard and enjoyed the slow roller coaster. Discovery I did not see.
