This is not the kind of thing we want to do very often if we have to do it at all, and everyone needs banking services whether we want them or not. So something will have to be done to make sure that anyone caught and convicted can resume doing lawful business without being subject to extortionate penalties that might further radicalise them, yes...

Yes, it absolutely IS tangled. It is messy and it is worrying and right now, it seems absolutely necessary, because we want the people behind this rounded up so that they can't do it to our country or anyone else's for that matter. There are better people than Trudeau, yes, and we need to become a better country, AND the Convoy Crowd and its backers are absolutely worse as alternatives go.

Yeah. But it's a bad precedent. When David Miller, who I thought was a good mayor as far as mayors go, centralized power in Toronto, I remember saying that this was bad because what if Rob Ford got in as mayor some day? People thought I was being ridiculous, and yet here we are.
