Is there a certain timespan set down in law or regulation during which US manufacturers are expected to have parts available for repair work on any appliance - say, an electric range? - they've made for sale?

I don't know but it'd be worth checking state law too as there are sometimes state-level efforts toward such, at least for in-state purchases.

In California, it is up to 7 years, depending on the price of the item.

Here there are companies which will keep the parts for older models even when the original company no longer manufactures that model.

Might be worth a look online for such.

Sometimes the same part is used in multiple models, so look up your model on AppliancePartsPros.com and see what you can find. They also have very helpful videos for a lot of repairs - but not all.
