Yeah, I remember when that Slashdot about not owning gadgets was posted last month. I think they're full of it, especially in countries that don't adopt DMCA. The main problems being Right To Repair and landfill usage. We're trashing far too much stuff far too quickly that isn't getting recycled or reused and that really needs to change, such a plan where everything is a rental is just going to accelerate that and we'll be seeing the Wall-E dystopia even sooner.
