For politicians as much as movie and TV soundstages, apparently.

And yes, I've seen news reports of libraries on cruise ships. I have a Haynes Manual detailing the history of the Queen Mary II, and that vessel does have a reading library aboard her. I suppose Books By the Yard's management and staff have already heard of such themselves more directly.

There's a very distinct characteristic of libraries on TV and in movies: the shelves are filled end to end. No space to add more books! As a rule, you'll never see shelves like that in a real library. There will be gaps where books have been checked out, and we'll leave room for books to be (theoretically) purchased and added without having to go through the horror of shuffling. And speaking from experience, it's not a lot of fun!

Last year, we took all our reference books and opened them to checkout. And since they were no longer reference books, that took them out of that area and filtered them in throughout the collection. Reshuffling the entire collection! Fun and laughs for all!

Even when I had bookshelves for my home library I learned to keep a little slack space! :-)

I learned it the hard way from being such a bibliophile in years past.  Now probably 95%+ of my book purchases are ebooks and magazines are a similar number.  And having purged such a huge number of physical books, my purchases are much more manageable.  I get one print subscription, the cooking magazine Milk Street, and I think only one emagazine, The Atlantic.  We get a couple of electronic newspaper subscriptions, a local, NYT, and I think WaPo.  We would like to pay for Slate, but we consider their price to be kind of ridiculous.
