Something to be concerned about? In an activist way, perhaps?

I graduated high school in 1980 and started working in computer programming a few years later. I very quickly started seeing how cost of living was outstripping inflation, and it hasn't improved. In the '90s, I was making over $70k, and that was my peak earning. I haven't come close to that since, and that was working for a city gov't. I could have made more working for a corp, but I liked working for something serving a public good rather than a for-profit entity.

Where I am now, such wages are pretty much a complete impossibility. A few years ago I helped a medical practice who was hit with a ransomware infection. No price was discussed in advance of what I would charge, and for one day's work I invoiced him at $35 an hour, which is dirt cheap for what I did. A commercial entity would have started at four times or more that rate. And while I was paid, he didn't want any more of my services. But there's also artificial wage suppression in my area: that's another story - there is a literal cabal that wants this place to be in the 1950s, socially and economically.

Good article, excellent illustration of what is wrong with unchecked capitalism, which the capitalists want you to think that free markets should be free of regulation, when in reality means they should actually be tightly regulated to ensure that the small business has a chance of surviving against the big mega-corps.
