Something I stumbled onto via Indeed's job alerts this afternoon. Seriously.

Why would you need a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree for this? Theories, anyone?

It seems to me that requiring a bachelor's degree in X has become a implicit default setting, which truly sucks.

Being a late-end boomer I can tell you that by the time I was looking for work, "a degree" was required for every damn thing - even postal delivery persons. It was just an easy way to weed through the crowd of us. It's been tedious forever.

Alternatively, in this case, a degree holder is likely to have all their own equipment, including lights and photo studio boxes (shooting tent).

Food photography is a damned specialized field, but I don't know how much of a market there is for freelancers. Or how you could stretch a course into a bachelor's degree.

No, you'd just need to be a good photographer.

We're overcredentialed to death, don't get me wrong, but food photography is fucking hard so I'd imagine they'd want to make sure the person had some training in it.
