Today's the election and referendum day in Ontario. I've made up my mind on both matters, and I hope that, if you've got voting rights here, you'll go out and vote too if you haven't already done so. I've recited that quote about decisions made by people who show up before, and it still holds true.

Wishing I could remember where I put my old college transcripts today. It's been over a decade since I've needed the darned things, but hunting for a day job and its associated paperwork is sometimes not as easy as I think it ought to be. But that's my headache. *wry grin*

Ah, well...on to the Big News from Australia: Ian Gould will be at Supanova in Sydney this weekend with copies of Local Hero # 1 for any and all interested to buy.

Yep, the book's finally in print for the first time! If you're in Sydney and you're planning to attend Supanova, check out the Dark Nebula table!

And while this sketch is unrelated, save for practice in keeping the skills up and running, I thought I'd share it anyway...

I would be at Supanova this weekend, except Armageddon is running in Melbourne the same weekend!

We have 2 comic conventions this year for the first time in nearly a decade, and they're both on the same weekend.

Supanova was there first, and I'd be going there if they'd been professional enough to reply to my inquiry about getting exhibitor space. Armageddon seem to be much better organized.

Still, it's really divisive... and there's already a big divide between Sydney and Melbourne.

I'm sorry to read that, Jason. I remember how something similar went on in Toronto for a year or two there vis-a-vis the Hobbystar and Paradise Comics conventions, and I am glad to have seen the apparent end of that dispute! Even happier to see both conventions still going concerns, with two more such events besides in the same city.

Holding on to hope that eventually the same kind of peace - and what I hope is a growing comics business pie situation - takes hold in Australia and soon.

In the meantime, I hope that won't stop you from trying out Local Hero?

Well, it's 8 years since the last Melbourne con, so the problem will likely as not just go away...

I will most definitely be picking up Local Hero. I'm expecting there will be a Dark Nebula table at Armageddon, too, and I hope they'll have copies. I think some of the guys involved with Nebula are Melbourne-based. If not I'll email Ian again and buy or trade one off've him.

Looking forward to your reaction, Jason!

Still plugging away at work on # 2's pencils...
