I've got the Democratic Debates on NBC on the TV at the moment. I want Canada to have a sane US president to deal with again. Most of these candidates will fit that requirement, whatever their specific policy palettes.

It was interesting, and no where as tedious as I imagined. NBC did a good job by not asking every candidate the same question, which was what I feared. And then we had the amusing A/V mess-up when they switched moderators to Rachel Maddow.

Personally, I think half of them should quit and run for the Senate. It needs to be taken over in addition to the Presidency being won and the House held.

Agreed re: your federal Senate.

I also have continuing concerns about the rest of the "downticket". Where do I find out what's up for grabs in the US in 2020?

The entire House of Representatives is a two-year terms, so it's up every cycle.  Senators serve six yeas, so one-third is up every cycle.  Who is up at any given time is the tricky bit, and off-hand, I don't know an easy way to find out.
