dewline: Musical note symbol ending in a maple leaf (canadian music)

A couple of years ago with help from [personal profile] doc_paradise and their family-by-choice, I got to see the Arrogant Worms. This was a good thing for several reasons, including their signature song, "The Last Saskatchewan Pirate".

Thank you again for that gift, by the by, Doc.

That introduces a topic I'd like to play with tonight: who else would you like to see live if money and over-cranked sound systems and crowds weren't an issue?

I'm thinking of the bands Stars and Metric, and Bruce Cockburn (whom I saw live once in Major's Hill Park, in a light and cold rain), of Mike Post of all those TV series' themes, Coeur de Pirate, and a few more. Some of whom may get mentioned in the comments.

How about you?

We talking current bands or ones that we wish we’d seen?

My #1 would always be Einsturzende Neubauten. Yeah, I've seen them twice, but it's my understanding that they'll never play Canada again (they had their instruments confiscated at the border under Harper), and they're probably my favourite band of all time. Even if they came somewhere close in the US, I'd probably cross the border for that.

If we're going for artists I've never seen, Janelle Monae, New Model Army, MIA, the Cure, Depeche Mode, and Duran Duran. I am blessed that of the living artists/bands that are still together that I'm into, I have seen most of them live. I just crossed off two big ones off my bucket list in the past month, even! But those are all ones I've never seen.

Without a doubt:
Mark Knopfler
Supertramp
ELO

I'd enjoy seeing Paul Simon, but I think he stopped touring, so it'd be a false hope. (heh heh).

I could get in to seeing Devo live, I'd love to see Talking Heads, but that'll never happen. I did get to see them as The Heads, and that was quite good. Best I'll get since Byrne will never reform them.
