I wish I was surprised, but I'm not. I'm starting to feel a sense of inevitability when a Mosque or Synagogue is attacked. "Oh. I guess it happened today, then."

I would so have no problems with space aliens destroying the planet right now, I see no path forward for this race of idiots.

We met a Kiwi at the movies Tuesday night and she was talking about all of the observatories in NZed, so I started looking at a list, as far as I can tell they're all amateur-sized except for a couple of radio telescopes. After shit like this, I don't know that I would want to live there. I'd feel a lot safer in Australia which is relatively gun-free. I thought NZed was somewhat gun-free, I thought wrong apparently.

There have been days when I give serious thought to that invasion scenario.

And it seems our suspect in this instance is Australian, and a bit of a wanderer.

I knew he was an Aussie, apparently he went to NZ as it's easier to obtain the gun to perpetrate such a crime there.  Didn't know he was a wanderer, which doesn't surprise me as there's frequently a mental health component to such.
