...because when I got home from work Friday night, I just completely crashed. Not the kind of crash that involved a prolonged sleep, though, but the sleepless and painful coughing fit kind.

I think I'm almost back to equilibrium now.

Sorry to hear it! Are you still recovering from illness? I'm 12 days out from my surgery before I'll start getting better and on week 4 of 6 of Cipro.

Have you been tested for asthma or GERD? Either can cause lots of coughing.

Asthma is, if memory serves, part of the issue.

GERD - now that I understand what it is - not so much.

Be aware that there is such a thing as Silent GERD, which is what I have!  I wasn't aware that I have acid reflux until it was demonstrated via a tailored barium swallow in front of a fluoroscope.  It was quite a revalatoin.
