Such sn incredibly sad story, and I have no doubt that there are plenty of other similarly tragic stories that never get told. I think Universal Basic Income would be a good start towards reducing the enormity of the problem, along with a 988 number for people in crisis (I believe that's been implemented already in some areas?) There were some good approaches mentioned in the article too. What strikes me about Erin's case, however, is that she did seem to have quite a network of friends and concerned people looking out for her but still their best efforts and outreach could not avert her suicide.
I'm not totally convinced by the argument that "isolation kills". Some people have a greater need for privacy and solitude than others and it seems to me that it was probably more the people who were constantly on her case - perhaps the landlord or members of her estranged family or other tenants, I didn't know her personally - who drove her to take her own life.
