Things of interest which may or may not coincide with the events of this day, whichever of them you celebrate (or live in fear of)...

Library and Archives' usefulness to the Ottawa community gets...curtailed. Thanks to Spacing Ottawa Twitter Feed for the link.

Another piece by David Reevely notes what I personally call an unhealthy fixation re: "financial sustainability" in regard to OC Transpo. Mr. Reevely may disagree, as might city council. They're certainly welcome to do so, but not at the cost of many locals' mobility.

Eric Darwin profiles plans for the thinnest of thin houses on Gladstone Avenue.

Some interesting noises out of City Hall about the Baseball Stadium, sourced from CBC. (Personally, I've been wanting to attend a Fat Cats game for a couple of years now, and would like to be able to do so before they get forced out of town by other considerations.)

For the typeface fandom out there, here's a piece from The Current to listen to. (The documentary Helvetica is referenced at the start of the audio file, which I have in my DVD library...and is recommended.)

More later on other topics...
