Access to Justice: A Cost Issue
Aug. 13th, 2006 08:22 amI hope you'll forgive my diversion into legal issues for a blog entry. But having been a courtroom artist for a couple of years for one of the local news services, some times I just can't ignore a story on Canadian law.
I know that it's been a growing issue for quite some time, but Supreme Court Chief Justice has just refreshed our national and personal memories on the subject yesterday. It's starting to prove out that legal representation is going to be one of the bellwether issues for Canada in this half-century as medicare was in the previous fifty years.
And if I recall correctly, legal aid cutbacks in federal and provincial budgets have been an ongoing concern for a lot of people, too...
