I keep pointing out to people that the "Spanish Flu" epidemic in 1917 actually lasted for ten-ish years, depending on which histories one reads.
The second and third years had more cases and deaths than the first year.
The reason for that was that people "got tired" of taking the precautions (the same ones first used for Covid) and ?decided? to "get back to normal."
Vaccines were not readily available then.
Fun thing now is that Covid is a fast mutating virus and since huge numbers of people are not willing to take preventative precautions, mutations will happen and it could get really bad with little to no warning.
But, hey... we can get sick and die - how does that work for "getting back to normal?"
