We had some interesting news in Phoenix. We had a local comics chain, Atomic Comics, went bust over a decade ago. One of its stores was uninsured and someone drove a car through its front and wrecked it just before the economy went south. The entire chain folded between the costs to rebuild the store and the economy trashing.
Anyway, a friend of mine who came into a pretty large sum of money and opened a successful pizza/beer restaurant found some other backers and was able to get together with the founder of Atomic and reopen it! I hope it thrives, I don't know what the market is like for comic stores these days.
