On the DEWLine 2.0: Dwight Williams

My last trip outside Canada was to San Diego in 2002 for the Comicon. At the airport, my father had his first stroke, which we ended up discovering was the signal that his metastasized renal cell cancer was tired of waiting to end him. I found out over the phone hours later, once I'd landed in San Diego. I think I permanently alienated several people who'd once considered me friends in the process of handling that news while I was there.

(As mentioned elsewhere, he died the following Christmas Day, some five months later.)

Also, security theatre has been getting worse over the decades since 9/11.
