I hate seeing city landmarks at risk like this. There's a whole pile of arguing going on at City Hall and elsewhere over who did what to the Duke of Somerset building and why, and I'm still trying to make sense of it while City Hall tries to figure out if they should stick with their demolition order or not.

I don't understand why the city can't act decisively and get it taken down. Sure it has some architectural appeal, but it's not what I would call an astonishing building. It's been empty for several years and is a wreck inside. Closing down a major intersection affects residents, local businesses and transit users. Is there something I'm missing here?

It's got a fan base, and it's rumoured that there's other legal complications involved as well.
