Summation

Now, we have three of the heads of government of the Permanent Five of the UN Security Council actively working to drive the rest of us humans to some form of autocracy if not feudalism.

Still lurking hereabouts. Busy with lots of stuff. I'll try to say more later this week.

Checking In - 12 Aug 2023

I've been quiet here - though not elsewhere online - of late. The job search, caregiving errands, and map project have been taking up a lot of the time. Not sure what else to add at the moment. I might upload screencaps of the map project progress to Flickr in the coming days.

More later, okay?

More later, as time allows.

A Little After the 21 May 2022 Storm

I got back to the old neighbourhood just as the storm system was starting to sweep through and it was after midnight local time before power was first restored here. My first attempt to post this was interrupted by another, briefer outage.

I'm informed that many other people across Ontario and Québec have had rougher times these past twelve hours or so. A handful have been found by their deaths tonight as well.

May Day 2022

So I've spent the day in family conference - that gets discussed in "access list" entries - as well as a ByMUG meeting, some house chores, Clip Studio Paint practice, culling basement and e-mail clutter, and other stuff.

I suppose I'm okay enough for the moment.

I might have some things to say tomorrow morning before work.

Post-Second Dose Report

My right shoulder - where I got the second dose - has suddenly stopped aching. About 24 hours after the injection. That seems to have been the only real side effect I've suffered from this. Whether that was due to the injection or my sleep posture habits...? I'm leaning towards the injection, but it was a minor annoyance to me at worst.

(Oh, it was Pfizer-BIONTech both doses, if that matters.)

Right now, I've got a front lawn to mow and groceries and newspapers to pick up. I'll check back with you all later, okay?

Last Week of June 2021

So, I've got my almost-noon hour appointment for my first vaccine dose today.

Still looking for a day job.

Family is still hanging in there.

More later, okay?

COVID-19 Plus One Year

This morning, The Current is marking the first anniversary of the World Health Organization's official declaration of Pandemic. That's what I'm listening to via CBC Radio One right now.

This afternoon, I'm doing my regular mental health check video chat.

Job search, self-training with assorted software, exercise, shopping, financial management, house chores are expected to take up the rest of my Thursday.

More as it comes to mind.

First Weekend of 2021

Okay. Accomplishments today including:

Got blankets and such washed and dried.
Attended the Zoom meeting of ByMUG.
Updated Zoom.
More sketchbook practice time.
Started a new year's job search diary.

Family's mostly okay this weekend.

Political thought: I'm increasingly convinced that modern Republicans believe that the Sin they have to atone for is telling Nixon to call it quits before it was too late instead of fighting, scheming and criming to the last ditch.

Job search resumed this morning in earnest. I got some practice time with Clip Studio Paint in last night, and I expect to do some house chores shortly and then get back to video tutorial studies re: Balsamiq.

Heading Into the Evening

Continuing stresses are continuing.

Art therapy/training has resumed, though. Tonight I finally installed the new version of Clip Studio Paint EX and started practicing with it. Feels both awkward and right, particularly at the moment.

Brief Check-In Post

I'm...not as badly off right now. Still looking for work and for computer gear better suited to supporting video-conferencing for job-search purposes. My co-residents and I are all coping with each other well enough. Practicing a bit more with the design and illustration software I can use right now as well, which helps with the mental-health self-support as much as with job search support.

More as I think of it.
