Labour Day Morning

Some fool knocked on the front door - so I believed I'd heard - at 715 AM on Labour Day morning. By the time I got out of my room to look, no one was there.

If I did hear correctly, that person may have worked on making sure their luck was good.

Religious Service in the Military Context

Speaking of the common good...I'm looking at this:

https://cdrsalamander.blogspot.com/2020/09/usn-tone-deaf-on-religion-again.html

And this:

https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/military/story/2020-09-05/navy-cancels-catholic-services-at-area-bases-while-others-continue#null

And I too am wondering - I'm not Catholic or American or a career combat-sailor either and I'm not sure that matters simply because I see fellow humans being neglected - exactly who thought this was a good idea to begin with and why.

Blogging Anniversary of Note

A friend of longstanding going back to - I think - Usenet times just noted an anniversary today: Elayne Riggs notes that this is the 18th anniversary of the start of her internet life's weblogging component.

Well done, Elayne! Hopefully, despite all manner of chaos these past few years and expected in the decades to come, we will both manage to keep living long and maybe even prospering a little (more than we have been up to now)!
