Doctor Who: I am going to miss...

...everything after this latest movie, apparently. BBC and Disney+ just announced their Big Deal for access to the series outside of the UK from now on. CTV Sci-Fi is history to them now, just as the CBC was forced by Conservative Party pressure to walk away from their relationship for Canadian broadcast rights years earlier.

I smell ideological pressure on the BBC from somewhere, of course.

1. Writing workshop today was okay.

2. So was the refresher from Ottawa City Hall on urban planning basics. They hold this class every few months for whoever is interested. The online version over Zoom was as packed as the one I attended in person back in the winter of 2019-2020. (At least I think it was back then.)

3. Still haven't seen WandaVision. Still resigned to spoilers because Disney+. Sounds like I'm missing out on fun stuff. Oh well.

4. More as it occurs to me.

Watched Black Panther on ABC tonight.

I am mildly surprised that they decided to not do commercial breaks for this showing. And I shouldn't have been surprised by that, not in today's context.

I am mildly annoyed by the removal of Shuri's middle finger moment. A small thing, but still...

I think Disney HQ got this mostly right tonight. But I don't and shouldn't get to have the last word on this point.

Bob Iger Just Spoke Up

About the abortion law situation in American Georgia, specifically.

When the boss of Disney - also boss of Marvel, LucasFilm, Pixar, 20th Century Fox, etc. - speaks up...

"I think many people who work for us will not want to work there, and we will have to heed their wishes in that regard. Right now we are watching it very carefully."

That answers Newsarama's question on this subject.

Education Policy and Pop Culture

Interesting linkages drawn by friendly acquaintances tonight:

Thoughts, anyone?

Can we attribute the early arrival of charter schools as a concept in MCU-America ("early" compared to real-world history, that is) to HYDRA influence at the state level? Should we?
