Congratulations to the NASA Perseverance Team!
I just watched the successful landing of the Perseverance Rover!
Cue the Starfleet March!

Congratulations to Zarqa Nawaz...
...on her new job with CBC News Saskatchewan for the next few months!
Some of you may remember watching or hearing about Little Mosque on the Prairie, the sitcom she put together for CBC TV a while back, but before that, she was in news. Started out with Peter Gzowski on Morningside even further back, in fact.

Congratulations to Ireland...
...as I'm just looking at the CBC report on your national marital rights referendum as I type this.
I suspect you will find this result and its consequences a very good thing for your nation in the decades ahead. That we have it in Canadian law - and have done for over a decade now - is all well and good, but I have to admit to some envy over the fact that we didn't get it done in the way you're going about it.
That's alright, though.
Again: congratulations, and take good care of each other.

An open note to Shelagh Rogers
I just heard of your appointment to the Order of Canada.
We've met once before, very briefly, at the Lockout Protest Concert at Glebe Collegiate back in 2005. You would've still been hosting Sounds Like Canada at that time but for that lockout. And while the show resumed afterwards, and you did move on from there to hosting The Next Chapter...via those two shows(and This Morning prior to Sounds Like Canada, which I also listened to) you've introduced me to books, to music and musicians and ways of seeing Canada and the larger world that surprised and entertained me.
Judging by the news of your appointment, it turns out that I was far from alone in this view.
Good.
Congratulations, and thanks again for everything so far...and probably for a few good deeds yet to be done, too!

First, three new people to belatedly welcome aboard. Not entirely sure why some of them are adding me to their contact lists here, to be honest, but the new faces are welcome if they bear honest intentions. "ciriaex", "zoeyli" and "ulkogol": Greetings, and best wishes for the future! Here's hoping it works out well for everyone, huh?
Second: Getting ready to post those Railfest 33 pix later tonight to my Flickr account. The ones I took whilst running my table at the book fair are already uploading as I type this posting. There's a lot of the Railfest photos, though, so a dial-upload will take a little while. Please bear with me on this.
Third: Congratulations again to
warrenellis on the news re: the box office returns from Red's opening weekend. Hoping to take in at least one showing myself before the next week goes by!
Again...more to come.
