For years (decades?) now, I've been saying that I only saw (on television) Gordie Howe play once, at the all-star game during his final season.
Then today, his last goal, against the Canadiens during the 1981 playoffs was everyone.
I was a Habs fan, so I almost certainly saw that game, and so, saw that goal. But even seeing it re-run on Youtube brought back no memories at all.
Whatever. The man was, by all accounts, a gentleman of the old school (in the good sense of the term) and in pure fact, was a phenomenal athlete. 52 years old and still scoring goals in the NHL!?!
Jaromir Jagger is only 43 and everyone is in awe ...
Simply a legend...

Funny how memory is the first thing to go

Outside the NHL? Maybe the Elder Skatesmen? (Look them up via The National's YouTube channel.)
