Happily, the web seems to be birthing alternative media all over the place, as the dinosaurs canabilise themselves into pitiful irrelevance. Have you actually read a Globe and Mail lately? As somebody or other once said, there's no there there. Or nearly not.

Less happily, I'm not sure the new media have the resources for serious journalism that the old once wielded, though outfits like Vice give me reason for hope.

I occasionally leaf through a copy at the store or the library, but haven't subscribed since that editorial supporting the most recent changes to unemployment insurance rules.
