Safety?

So I'm looking at this item about Trump wanting Canadian water resources for California...and then, over to this item at the Guardian about Pete Hegseth's writings...

No, I can't afford to move. And I live in eastern Ottawa.

That first link is broken (an extra quote character, I think), but the webpage is there.

What [personal profile] mellowtigger said. I couldn't get that article via this link, but thanks to you making me aware of this water issue I did go find the article online.

Yeah, I remember when the weird old felon from Florida first started talking about the 'giant tap in Canada'. But the liberal misogynists can't handle a woman president apparently and he'll be back in power, so who knows what will happen.

I guess that while Trump hates California, and arranges federal decisions to screw Californians when possible, they count as Americans when compared to foreigners, so it's appropriate to steal/bully/screw those foreigners even for Californian benefit. Not that this surprises me - it fits the usual belief pattern and behaviour of the us-vs-them crowd - both screwing (some of) their own, and defending them aggressively against those even farther outside the charmed circle.

California doesn't want your water. Trump doesn't want to give California water either. He wants to say insane shit like this to block efforts to rationalize water use-which necessarily involve regulating corporations.
