DeSantis may yet declare - https://www.clubforgrowth.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/CfGAction_2024_Primary_PollSummary_221114.pdf - so with luck the Republicans may tear themselves apart with a bruising fight over the nomination.

Club for Growth...that's one of those right-wing lobby groups, right?

I'm hoping that Trump and DeSantis wreck each other beyond all possibility of repair myself, sure. I'm also not sure that I want to sit back and wait for whatever happens to happen. Also, we need to watch for people playing it quiet who might do even worse than either of them.

It is indeed. I wouldn't put it past them to nudge the results somewhat toward DeSantis to try to dissuade Trump (it's not like the GOP wanted him even the first time, it was probably supposed to be Jeb! or somesuch) but those polling numbers, even if unreliable, show a large gap.
