I was wondering how long it was going to take for this to happen. Apparently, Strange New Worlds, the Pike-focused series, is doing location shoots around downtown Toronto...which will finally get to be itself on-camera.

Noting that the "police cruiser" was deliberately detailed to not look like an official Toronto police cruiser. There are several possible reasons for that: avoidance of "paid duty" fees, lack of script approval, and quite possibly not wanting their rented vehicle to be mistaken for a real cruiser for safety reasons unrelated to any other concerns.

(Although that faux prison bus with "Illinois State Penitentiary" detailing is poking holes in my theory.)

I would imagine that if the cops aren't completely stupid (a big if) they would want to avoid a repeat of Gabriel Wortman's massacre.

Official Toronto police cars are malicious stealth camouflaged right now, they wouldn't be recognizable as a police vehicle in a movie.
