Work: Long Remembrance Weekend

An office chair that I believe I've owned and used since before my father died - back in 2002 - is slowly going to pieces under me. Therefore, in order to keep myself in good working order - whether that work is data entry, document review, map design or comic book illustration - I finally bought a new chair from the local Jysk store. I'm putting myself further in the hole to do this, yes. My first pay from my now-underway latest job will be deposited in four days from tonight, therefore I feel the need to Get This Done anyway. The less distracted I am from whatever work I have in front of me right now, the better, right?

The chair is described as a "gaming chair", and it's branded as "Snertinge". Apparently, it's so new to its Canadian stores, that it hasn't been added to their web catalogue as of today!

The people I share this house with think I should just put it to the curb and be done. I plan to advertise it on TrashNothing.com, offering it as either repairable or as parts for a repair job. Why not at least try to keep it out of landfill, right?

Sounds sensible to recycle if you can!

I could use a new chair myself. All of mine were being tossed at work so they were in... not the best shape to begin with.

My local freegle is full of repairable stuff and parts, and a surprising percentage go after the first offer post.

And, yes, you're allowed to buy a new chair and not injure yourself merely because the systems we live in make zero waste unnecessarily difficult. I hope you and your chair both live long and prosper.

If you put it out far enough in advance on garbage day, it's possible someone will salvage it. Alternatively, you could put it out regardless of the pickup day and attach a sign marked "free" on it. That happens quite a bit in our neighbourhood.
