Haven't had much in the front yard recently, though my wife reports having heard rifle shots while inside our house the last few days, so apparently hunters are tromping around the mountain behind us.
Given the state of wildlife in the wider world in general as announced this past week, I find that news of the rifle shots somewhat distressing. Also, I wonder about the skill level of the rifle-users.
Yeah. Some of those shots were in hours where there was no way they could be following the hunting rule of 'Know what is behind your target' in case you miss, which is certainly cause for concern. Just because you're in a forest, doesn't mean you're going to hit a tree. I was reading the BBC News site recently and saw a Welsh restaurant owner was killed in Europe, in Belgium, IIRC, by a hunter with a bad shot. I'm not sure if the hunter mistook him for game or if a miss happened to hit the guy or if the Welshman or the hunter was in an area they shouldn't have been. Regardless, it ended up with a person dead.
