The end of the Trudeau-Singh Deal

Dammit.

Does my preferred political party have to keep shooting themselves in the foot and expecting that foot to not go to pieces?

I don't honestly think this is an unmitigated disaster. A lot of NDP supporters thought it was a bad idea to get into the supply-and-confidence deal in the first place. Now that it's ended, it might give the NDP party faithful a new respect for their leader, and garner more NDP supporters amongst the undecided electorate.. Yes, Poilievre will very likely call for a vote of non-confidence, but how much support will he ultimately get? His own party members certainly, and a some rogue Liberal backbenchers but in general, Trudeau seems pretty good at surrounding himself with yes-people.

I'm not sure how much difference averting an election now would do to the ultimate outcome of an election once we reach the fixed election date, but I live in hope!

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Well, Singh needed to do it sometime in order to have any chance of campaigning as a viable candidate and not a puppet of another party. It doesn't stop continued mutual benefit.

My once a week reading of CBC hasn't kept me plugged into the Canadian political scene to even know about the deal that was.

At least our liberal party is finally slamming the RNC more effectively this year. I hope they can keep it up in election cycles to come.
