Arm Pains IV: A Tentative Verdict

Two weeks of Advil Extra Strength and Voltaren for the shoulder joint, plus a date with an x-ray machine, time and location TBD.

Acromioclavicular joint seems to have been inflamed.

More to follow...

They won’t even put you on steroids with swelling next to the brachial nerves? 🤨 This doctor gets my most judgmental eyebrow.

Totally anecdotal learned through trial and error suggestion: Omega-3 which is found in fish (who'd a thunk?), fish oil and some veggies, dairy and eggs, to mention a few sources. I'm not a seafood eater due to bad reaction a couple of times. Recently found out Omega-3 is anti-inflammatory, among other benefits. Been taking a low dose for a while now and things seem to be improving. If you 'fish' yourself a few times a week, it may already provide what you need. Let me know if you try this and how it goes?

Advil is an anti-inflammatory, so good.

Voltaren is likely just a pain mask. So be careful with what you do while using it. "It feels better" can lead to doing more and making things worse. (Something I was guilty of with some injuries)

If I'm reading wikipedia correctly, this may be a case where ice can help things. A bag of ice in the right place for 15 min or so, along with a thin towel to moderate the cold can do a lot; esp when used every couple hrs. Now cold can tighten things up but it can also do a bang up job with pain and inflammation.

Not sure about xray. MRI is what shows soft tissue. But Drs seem to be able to infer the soft tissue on xrays sometimes.

Do not put heat on the area of inflammation, though. Put heat on the muscles beside the joint where the collarbone crosses next to the shoulder, but please be putting cold on the joint itself.

I hope they can find an easy, non-surgical solution for you.

Hoping this helps. Pain is so annoying and grumpy-making.
