ESA: Venetian Lagoon From Space

The European Space Agency maintains a Flickr account of its own. Here's one of the things they've been noticing of late via Earth-observation stuff.

What does the darker color in the water mean?

The waters aren't being churned by the water taxis. That means the waters in the canals aren't influxed with the waters so churned too.

We may be seeing fish in the more recent picture, either because the water clarity is better, or because they don't have to compete with surface traffic.

I was reading a few days ago or last week about the improved clarity of the Ventian canals, it would be nice if it could be continued. I was wondering if the tidal swells had improved, I don't recall a mention of that. I know they have tremendous flooding problems when the cruise ships come in, but that's not happening now, so at least that's abated.
