Happy Anniversary, [livejournal.com profile] steve_roby

Hope you and the missus have jointly had a good one today!

Now if I could just figure out a good choice for a sketch subject for the two of you...

Thanks, Dwight. We had our big anniversary dinner on Saturday this year. We always go to the Trattoria Italia at Preston and Gladstone because that's where we had the wedding reception, such as it was -- basically as many family members as were in Ottawa at the time and just a few friends. Today we sort of celebrated by not cooking for ourselves. Instead, we did take-out from Rangoli (one of the Indian restaurants on St Joseph, and the one we like best) and generally took it easy.

Five years. It's weird. It seems like forever and no time at all, simultaneously.

Sounds like a plan worth pursuing. Glad you had fun.

And I think I've seen Rangoli. Haven't yet tried them out, though. You'd definitely recommend them?

From the outside, Rangoli doesn't look like much. It's much nicer inside. It's on the corner directly east of block with the Mexicali Rosa's and that little mall with the health food store, etc, sharing a building with a Chinese take-out place and something else.

The food is northern Indian; it's definitely spicier than the other place on St Joseph, Pearl of India, which is closer to the Royal Oak. But there are some really good vegetarian selections, which is good for Laura and me, as well as a lot of unvegetarian choices as well. Their menu is online at http://www.rangoli.ca/menu.html.

The service can be a little slow for eat-in because there's often only one person waiting tables, but we tend to do take-out most of the time these days. Leaves more of our evening time open and keeps us from spending another $10-20 on drinks and tips and such.

Thanks for the menu link!
