Mine always get dry this time of year anyway. Seconding the tip to moisturize at bedtime so you can slather it on knowing you’re not going to be handling anything for a few hours (I just use petroleum jelly).
If you have a pair of thin gloves to wear, it keeps the sheets from scraping off the moisturizer (if you thrash about at night as much as I do). Plus they get saturated with moisturizer after a few nights.
My Dad and I get this every winter - the finger tips crack and bleed (I hates, I do).

When it is very bad, I load up a bandaid with the salve and strap it over the crack and sleep with it at night. May take two or three nights to heal enough to leave the bandaids off. Really good stuff, though.
