Pharmacare

So, some good news, I suspect: national universal pharmacare is now in the plans spelled out in the mandate letters Trudeau sent to his cabinet and shared with the public at large as of today.

Yes, I know it's going to come from our taxes. Seeing as they're meant to be spent in defence of life, liberty and security of the person, as well as peace, order and the general welfare...I'm okay with this.

I'm fine with paying more taxes if it means that diabetics get their insulin for free.

It's foolish to spend money on hospitals and doctors to diagnose a disorder and prescribe treatment, but then fail to take the final step to actually treat the issue.

Like going to the grocery store, buying food, driving it home, and then throwing it in the trash rather than pay for the electricity needed to cook it.

I've probably said this before, but there was a sig on Slashdot that said "I enjoy paying my taxes, with them I buy civilization."

I'd be happy to pay more taxes to pay for universal healthcare and pharmacy, add in dental and vision and hearing plans - you know, actual healthcare. But so much gets siphoned off to "defense", which is actually just welfare for defense contractors.
