Wow, that sounds quite amazing. I met Peter Davison MANY years ago, along with the man who voiced K-9. He was pretty cool, we talked a bit in the hotel bar. I don't remember the name of the con, but it was specifically a Doctor Who con in Scottsdale, AZ. Probably late '80s? Having scheduled and ran many Phoenix SciFi cons, how Phoenix managed to land it I'll never know.
