I'm not entirely happy with the choices, mainly because the catalogue numbers available to use are not short enough and distinct enough. Numbers starting with GAIA DR3, APASS9, SKYM2, 2MASS and so on...and the SIMBAD database is very much a work in progress, perpetually playing catch-up with the new data - or old data finally data-entered after months to years' waiting - as it comes in.

comments

I was discussing the lists of recommendations, one from from the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls' Inquiry and the other from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission elsewhere on Facebook this morning. From the MMIWG recommendations, this is one I can selfishly agree with:

4.5 Establish a guaranteed annual livable income for all Canadians, including Indigenous peoples, to meet all their social and economic needs.

That aside, I'm making a note to review the whole list. Algeria was the last "recognized" country whose gas stations were still selling the stuff, and that finally stopped this year.

We'll still be recovering from the error of having used the stuff for generations, but with each country and company that got out of that business, the resulting damages have been less severe over time.

Switching the world's transportation fleets over to zero-emissions vehicles is a continuing project, of course.

comments
